This is the Nippon Yell Gummy Aomori Ōrin, featuring juice from Ōrin apples grown in Aomori Prefecture. Ōrin is a yellow apple variety known for its high juice content, pronounced sweetness, and distinctive mellow, floral aroma.

Each piece was a slightly domed, opaque yellow-green disc measuring approximately 2 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height, with a subtle floral-apple scent. The outer gummy layer offered a firm, elastic chew that gradually released a mild sweetness and delicate apple flavour. Enclosed within was a softer, jelly-like core that delivered a more concentrated, juicy sweetness, closely aligned with the natural character of the Ōrin apple. As the chew continued, the exterior released more of the fruit’s floral, aromatic notes, allowing the full flavour profile to develop in layers.
The use of Ōrin apple juice effectively highlighted the variety’s best attributes—its aromatic sweetness and juiciness—while avoiding the textural shortcomings of the raw fruit. The result was a clean, regionally distinctive confection with a well-executed flavour balance.
Overall, a bright, layered gummy that faithfully expresses the flavour of Aomori’s Ōrin apples. Comparable in quality to offerings from UHA Mikakutō and well worth repurchasing.
