Tsujiri Peach Sencha

Tsujiri is a famous tea house based in Uji, Kyōto. During our visit to their first store in Kyūshū opened in 1923 and located in Kitakyushu, we picked up this Tsujiri Peach Sencha.

The tea is a blend of sencha and dried white peach.

Steeping a 4 g tea bag in 200 mL of water at 75°C for 70 seconds, the tea was a translucent green colour with tea dust suspended throughout, and the fresh fruity notes of white peach coming through against the brothy aroma of high-quality green teas. Served hot, buttery and umami-rich notes came through at the head of each sip with a viscous mouthfeel before developing with the gentle sweetness and bright freshness of the white peach in the body ahead of the more vegetal notes of the sencha in the finish with no astringency or bitterness in the aftertaste.

Overall, this is one the most enjoyable peach flavoured sencha with the quality of the tea evident from the aroma and flavour despite the crushed tea leaf in the teabag.

This Tsujiri Peach Sencha contained 5 x 4 g tea bags. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Kitakyushu, Japan in 2019.
