This is the Ivy Miyagi Zunda & Azuki Langue de Chat, combining Miyagi’s regional specialty, zunda, with the widely popular azuki, presented in the classic langue de chat format.

Each box contained 16 individually sealed cookies, each measuring 4.5 × 4.5 × 0.9 cm.

The cookies consisted of two zunda-flavoured biscuits sandwiching a layer of azuki paste, resulting in a biscuit-to-filling ratio of 2:1.

On tasting, the biscuits had a crisp, light, and delicate texture, with a fine crumb that contrasted with the smooth, creamy filling. Eaten together, the slightly denser-than-Shiroi Koibito biscuits and the filling created a melt-in-the-mouth texture. However, the zunda flavour was subtle—without prior knowledge, it was not immediately recognisable. Instead, the biscuits carried a slightly grassy note with a mellow sweetness, distinct from the buttery, caramelised sweetness of Ishiya Shiroi Koibito. The azuki paste filling was the dominant flavour, offering a sweet, earthy nuttiness and a smooth, creamy mouthfeel that complemented the grassy undertones of the biscuits beautifully. Overall, these cookies had a balanced sweetness with a flavour profile rooted in Miyagi Prefecture’s regional ingredients, making them a delightful treat worth purchasing.
