This is the Aeon TopValu Potato Chips Salt and Seaweed, a thick-cut potato chip seasoned with salt and nori, made using domestically produced potatoes.

The chips presented with a light yellow base tone, with browned edges from retained potato skin. Chips measured approximately 4–5 cm in diameter and 1.5–2 mm in thickness, carrying scattered green flecks of nori alongside fine white salt crystals. Aroma opened with an umami-forward seaweed character layered over a mild fried potato base.

Initial contact delivered immediate saline savoury notes, led by fine salt distribution, followed by a firm structural snap on fracture. The bite response was sharp and direct, with clear resistance before breakage, characteristic of a thicker cut chip.
Through the mid-palate, crunch remained stable and persistent. The nori component became progressively more evident, contributing a marine umami layer that integrated into the salt rather than sitting as a separate topping element. This deepened perceived savouriness across continued chewing, particularly as moisture activated the seaweed notes. Oil presence remained minimal, limiting any greasy coating or residue build-up. Towards the finish, salt receded into a steady base savouriness while seaweed umami lingered slightly longer on the palate. Aftertaste carried a balanced potato and nori combination with a faint drying effect but minimal oil transfer.
Overall, a thick-cut potato chip with a salt-led opening and gradually building nori umami dimension, and integrated crunch, resulting in a clean, layered savoury chip.
