Osulloc holds a distinguished reputation as a premium Korean tea producer, situated on Jeju Island, the southernmost point of the Korean Peninsula. This island is renowned for its temperate climate, pristine air and water quality, as well as fertile volcanic soil. This here is the Osulloc Moon Walk.

It’s a looseleaf fermented tea (similar to pu-er) scented with Korean pear and honey.

Steeping 3 g of looseleaf tea in 200 mL of 85°C water for 90 seconds, the resulting infusion was a clear orange-brown hue. Its fragrance was reminiscent of sweet Korean pears, mirroring the scent of Hatai Crushed Pear Juice. When served hot, the tea exuded a mildly tangy flavour from the Korean pear, creating a crisp and lively impression at the forefront of each sip. This was coupled with a floral, honey-like sweetness that unfolded in the body of the tea, persisting gracefully until the finish, accompanied by minimal astringency. Overall, the Korean pear flavour was both refreshing and velvety, with the additional sweetness from the star candies elevating the pear’s fruity character and harmonizing with the gentle fermented tea undertones.

In comparison to the Lupicia Honey & Pear Hōjicha, this tea shared a resemblance with its brighter pear notes, as the delicacy of the post-fermented tea base allowed the pear to shine without overshadowing it, in contrast to the robust toastiness of hōjicha. The Ossulloc Moon Walk tea has easily secured a place as one of our preferred teas.

This Osulloc Moon Walk contained 35 g. The tea was sourced from South Korea and was purchased in South Korea in 2023.
