This is the Kellogg’s Chex Chocolate from Korea. They’re a chocolate-flavoured breakfast cereal made with five grains (corn, rice, wheat, oats, barley).

Each piece measured approximately 2 x 1.5 x 1 cm, featuring a hollow waffle shape with a crisscrossed exterior coated in chocolate. The sweet aroma emanating from the Chex was reminiscent of Kellogg’s Coco Pops.

When eaten without milk, the Chex had an irresistibly crunchy texture, releasing a delightful sweet chocolate flavour almost instantly upon contact. The taste closely resembled Kellogg’s Coco Pops, yet with a denser and more audible crunch attributed to the combination of grains, and a less pronounced rice flavour. The Chex itself had a light brown hue, creating some ambiguity as to whether the Chex were inherently chocolate-flavoured. Nonetheless, this was inconsequential as the crisscrossed waffle exterior provided ample surface area for crunch and chocolate coating. While the chocolate flavour did not represent high-quality chocolate, it was immediately recognizable and accessible, making it a convenient and enjoyable sweet snack.

This Kellogg’s Chex Chocolate contained 30 g. It was produced in South Korea and provided as part of the complimentary breakfast during our stay at Hotel Skypark Myeongdong II in 2023.
