This Morinaga Hi-Chew Tropical Mix follows on from the Superfruit Mix and contained three flavours: kiwi, pineapple and mango.

This is the mango, which contained mango purée. The candy has an opaque yellow centre surrounded by an opaque white exterior with a sweet mango aroma.  Upon tasting, the mango flavour that came through is sweet like a mango at peak ripeness with a hint of acidity developing in the finish to keep the sweetness from veering into artificiality.

This is the pineapple, which contained pineapple juice concentrate. The candy has an opaque light orange centre surrounded by an opaque pale yellow exterior with a bright pineapple aroma. Upon tasting, the pineapple flavour was natural with a prominent tropical sweetness that’s balanced with a bright acidity.

The kiwi overlaps with the Superfruit Mix so check there for our thoughts. Overall, though, we’re a fan of the punchiness of the tropical flavours in this mix.

This Morinaga Hi-Chew Tropical Mix contained 100 g or 18 pieces. It was produced in Taiwan and received as a gift from family visiting from the United States in 2019.
