Haribo Goldbears Pineapple

This Haribo Goldbears Pineapple was part of a series of individually bagged flavours released to celebrate Haribo’s 60th anniversary. Pineapple, made with both artificial and natural flavours, has always been our favourite in the mixed bag, so we were naturally drawn to a bag dedicated solely to it.

Each gummy measured about 2 cm in length and loosely resembled a bear, consistent with the standard Gold Bears design. They had a sweet pineapple aroma. The flavour was identical to the original, with a firm, bouncy texture—firmer than gummies rated 5 out of 5 on Meiji’s softness-to-hardness scale. The pineapple flavour developed after the second chew, beginning with a sweet note that intensified, releasing a juicy acidity that captured the essence of pineapple. However, it lacked the nuanced sweetness found in Japanese pineapple gummies that use real juice for flavouring.

After eating about 10 in a row, we detected an unusual savoury, buttery undertone, possibly from the high levels of gelatin. It seems the other flavours in the mixed bag may have helped balance the intensity of the pineapple, though it remains our favourite flavour overall.

This Haribo Goldbears Pineapple contained 113 g. It was produced in Germany and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
