We received these Haribo Twin Snakes back in February after being one of the first 100 people to send our details to Haribo on Instagram.

These twin snakes feature a sweet and a sour snake coiled together to be eaten either together or pulled apart. There are three flavour pairings:

This is cherry (red) and orange (orange). The cherry is sweet with a mild, more natural cherry flavour in comparison to the intensity of usual cherry flavoured sweets. In contrast, the orange flavour was salivatingly sour and bold in orange juice — rather than orange zest — flavour but does not leave a numbing sensation on the tongue. Eating the two together muddles the more subtle cherry flavour somewhat, but does give it somewhat of a blood orange quality.

This is apple (green) and lemon (yellow). The apple has a gentle sweetness and a fresh apple flavour, while the lemon has a bright citrus flavour — of lemon juice rather than lemon zest — and a very acidic sharpness. The two flavours here are best enjoyed together, which gave a more balanced sweetness and acidity.

Finally, this is blueberry and blackcurrant. The blueberry captured the flavour of the ripe fruit with a pronounced sweetness, while the blackcurrant captured the distinct earthy tartness of the fruit. Both flavours are very enjoyable when eaten separated, while combined the blueberry notes are somewhat lost and act as a sweetener to the blackcurrant.

As with usual Haribo products, these gummy have an additive bounce to the teeth with bright fruity flavours. Overall, we enjoy the more balanced sweetness and acidity that comes from eaten these twin snakes as a pair, although separating them is also fun.

This Haribo Twin Snakes contained 140 g. It was produced in Germany and received as a sample in Sydney, Australia in 2021.
