This is the Lupicia Popping Dragon. It was released as a limited edition for Lunar New Year 2024, packaged in a 50 g tin with a spirited leaping gold dragon, symbolising the commencement of a year filled with happiness and hope.

The featured a black tea flavoured with peach, lychee, and citrus aroma.

Steeping 4 g of looseleaf in 200 mL of water at 85ºC for 3 minutes resulted in a clear, red-brown infusion with a softly sweet and fruity aroma. When sipped hot, the tea revealed a smooth body with minimal astringency. Peach notes dominated at the start of each sip, offering a fleeting fruity sweetness followed by delicate floral undertones of lychee. The finish introduced a fresh zesty quality.

The combination of fruity, floral, and citrusy notes added a refreshing twist to the usual boldness of black tea. While the Flying Dragon variant featured a crisper fruitiness from the presence of pear, the Popping Dragon presented a rounder fruitiness, courtesy of peach and lychee. Both variations were elegant and enjoyable in their own distinct ways.
