This is Butter and Love, a specialty dessert bakery founded by former MasterChef Australia 2021 contestant Armi, known for its artisanal banoffee pie. The shopfront is a makeshift takeaway window located in the shop space behind Dino’s Five Dock, with no cafe seating or dine-in space available.

OG Banoffee Pie ($13.50)
The pie featured a biscuit base topped with dulce de leche caramel, fresh Australian bananas, double-thick vanilla bean cream and dark chocolate curls.
Initial contact delivered a toasted, buttery crunch from the biscuit base, contrasting with the gooey thickness of the dulce de leche caramel. The caramel’s richness was well restrained by the ripe bananas, which contributed fresh tropical sweetness alongside a tender texture. Through the mid-palate, the vanilla bean cream lightened the combination while retaining a pronounced vanilla richness. Rather than functioning primarily as additional volume, the cream complemented the existing flavours and textures, softening the caramel and integrating it with the biscuit and banana. Towards the finish, the dark chocolate curls added aromatic depth and a restrained bitterness that gave the sweeter components greater definition.

The OG Banoffee Pie was likely among the stronger banoffee pies tried, particularly for its balance and component integration. While other cakes may be preferred on personal flavour grounds, this combination was notably well executed, with the fresh banana and restrained cream preventing the caramel-heavy profile from becoming cloying.
