This is the Mango Pomelo Slushie ($10.50; fixed ice, no added sugar) from SoTea, featuring mango, sago pearls, coconut milk, jasmine tea and grapefruit pulp.
The beverage presented in distinct layers, with sago pearls and grapefruit pulp at the base, coconut milk in the middle and mango slushie sitting on top.
Initial contact delivered a coconut milk-forward profile, with moderate sweetness and a creamy, liquid consistency. The mango slushie sat awkwardly at the top, making the beverage difficult to integrate without waiting for it to melt. Once combined, coconut milk remained dominant, with mango emerging through the mid-palate. The mango had a slight astringency and subtle bitterness, although the jasmine tea may also have contributed to the latter. Towards the finish, the sago pearls became more prominent, offering a tender, subtle chew. Crystal pearls would have provided a more pronounced textural contrast. Some mango pieces were sufficiently underripe to remain crunchy, initially mistaken for coconut, while the softer flesh was sour rather than richly sweet. This additional sourness was unnecessary given that the grapefruit pulp already supplied a suitable tart contrast. The underripe pieces also lacked the clean texture of fresh mango, with a fine, grainy quality consistent with frozen fruit.
Although the portion was generous compared with Milk Flower’s version, Milk Flower’s superior execution and use of fresh ingredients made it the more worthwhile purchase.
Overall, a layered mango and coconut beverage with contrasting creamy, slushy and chewy components, but inconsistent mango quality and poor integration weakened the overall experience. Despite its generous portion, it fell short of Milk Flower’s version in ingredient quality and execution.
This Mango Pomelo Slushie was purchased from SoTea in Sydney, Australia in October 2026.
