This is the Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Jelly Muscat. We can’t get enough of these konjac-based jellies from Japan!
The Muscat Jelly came in a light green coloured pouch and contained 22% fruit juice (a mix of muscat and apple).
The jelly is a translucent off-white colour with a crisp aroma of Muscat. The crisp floral notes of the Muscat came through bright on tasting and develop to a prominent sweetness mid-bite before being restrained by a gentle acidity in the finish. The use of apple juice was noticeable but its crisp sweetness complemented the natural flavour of the Muscat. We prefer the sweeter and richer flavour of the grape, but the Muscat here showed a surprising complexity of flavour.
This Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Jelly Muscat contained 6 pieces each of 20 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Ōsaka, Japan in 2018.
