This Birds Eye Deli New Zealand Whiting Cracked Pepper Blend & Sea Salt are hand-cut Southern blue whiting fillets (56%) from New Zealand coated in black pepper and salt crumb. We enjoyed these side-by-side with the Crisp Light Batter version for comparison.

The fillets are 15 cm in length and prepared by baking in an oven preheated to 220°C for 15 minutes turning halfway, or in an air fryer at 200°C for half the time and turning halfway.

I’ve favoured crumbed fish over battered fish since my first taste of the former, and this one does not disappoint. The pepper and salt crumb gave just enough crispness and flavour while retaining the flavour of the flaky whiting. We’re used to eating hoki as frozen fish and this whiting is a juicy alternative.
This Birds Eye Deli New Zealand Whiting Cracked Pepper Blend & Sea Salt contained 250 g. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
