After getting more roast chicken flavour than expected with the Heinz Classic Creamy Chicken & Mushroom Soup, I returned for this Heinz Soup of the Day Mushroom with a Hint of Thyme in the hopes of something more mushroomy.
Three kinds of mushrooms — shiitake, portobello and button — make up 13% of the soup.
The soup is an opaque medium brown colour with dark specks of mushrooms. The signature earthy aroma of the mushrooms is both the aroma and taste of the soup with the portobello mushrooms adding a distinct smokiness. The overall flavour was packed with mushroomy goodness but the flavour was overly salty and lacked texture with the mushrooms blitzed into smooth oblivion. I’d have enjoyed the small cubes of mushroom that appear in the Campbell’s Condensed Cream of Mushroom Soup.
