Not overly impressed by the pearl milk tea at Chatime but not motivated to head to the more popular independent stores in Chinatown every time I want a bubble tea fix, this is the Sharetea Pearl Milk Tea ($5.30, regular, no sugar, no ice).
The tea is a translucent beige colour with a milky black tea aroma. Consumed chilled, the Earl Grey black eta notes came through creamy, smooth with a viscosity that’s far superior to the thin mouthfeel of the Chatime version and closer to fresh milk. With no sugar added, the sweetness of the tea comes solely from the brown sugar used to cook the pearls, which are tender and just sweet enough for my palate. With a creamier mouthfeel and a healthy black tea taste, the lower price at Sharetea makes this one to return.
