Kataoka Ying Kee Tea House Mango Tekkannon

Ying Kee Tea House, an established tea house in Hong Kong founded in 1881, collaborated with Kataoka for this Kataoka Ying Kee Tea House Mango Tekkannon.

The tea is in the form of an instant sachet.

Each sachet contained 8 g of granulated tieguanyin flavoured with mango juice (0.5%)

Stirring one sachet with 150 mL of water iced or hot, the infusion was a cloudy golden straw colour with a bright aroma of mango juice. Served hot, an initial sweetness gave way to a prominent bitterness that recalled an oversteeped tieguanyin (roasted oolong) came through with a sharp bitterness and astringency before tropical sweet and sour mango notes in the finish linger with the bitterness in the aftertaste. The tea is sweetened with sugar, giving it an overall flavour that recalled a liquid version of the ripe, seasonal mango with a prominent bitterness of which we’re not fond.

This Kataoka Ying Kee Tea House Mango Tekkannon contained 5x 8 g sachets. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Ōsaka, Japan in 2014.
