Originally introduced in 1952, POM Juice has earned widespread recognition in Japan for crafting juice from mikan cultivated in Ehime Prefecture. The Sakuma Seika Pom Juice Gumi represents a collaborative effort with Ehime Beverage, the company responsible for POM juice, to bring this beloved juice into the realm of gummies.
Each piece measured approximately 2.5 x 1.5 x 1 cm, mimicking the size and shape of a mandarin segment with tiny juice vesicles imprinted on the surface for a realistic appearance. These gummies emitted a refreshing and rich aroma of sweet mikan juice. Upon tasting, the translucent orange firm gummy exterior provided an enjoyable elasticity when bitten, leading to the darker opaque orange soft jelly core. The gummy exterior delivered a fragrant mikan flavour with a slightly salivating acidity, while the soft jelly centre offered a brighter sweetness. When eaten together, the combination of the firm exterior and jelly center created an incredibly juicy mikan flavour that perfectly captured the vibrant sweetness and mellow acidity of fresh mikan, essentially resembling the juice in gummy form. These gummies were undoubtedly worth repurchasing.
