This is the Tea & Co Osmanthus Oolong Tea & Coffee Blend ($7.50, half sugar, fixed ice) from the ‘When Coffee Meets Tea’ series at Tea & Co. The beverage featured osmanthus oolong milk tea at the base, with a milky beige hue, topped with a shot of espresso, and sprinkled with dried osmanthus flowers.
When sipped mixed and chilled, the osmanthus and roasted coffee notes emerged immediately. The osmanthus milk tea imparted vibrant honeysuckle notes that lingered between sips, with a mellow sweetness and creamy presence that rounded out any lingering bitterness from the coffee. This created a beverage rich in floral and roasted flavours, balanced in sweetness, without unwelcome acidity or excessive bitterness from the coffee, or astringency from the tea. Unlike the jasmine tea and coffee blend, where the coffee dominated the first half of the sip before the jasmine emerged in the second half with notable astringency, this blend was harmonious from start to finish.
This beverage confirms the ‘When Coffee Meets Tea’ series as a delightful and unique addition to the Sydney bubble tea scene. It is worth trying and worth returning for.
