Fujiya Taiwan Lychee Squash

This was the Fujiya Taiwan Lychee Squash, containing 1% juice from lychees grown in Taiwan. The bottle design aimed to evoke a retro Taiwanese aesthetic.

The drink had a translucent off-white beige hue and a sweet, floral lychee aroma, with moderate carbonation. Consumed chilled, the lychee flavour was immediately noticeable, offering a mellow floral sweetness at the start of each sip. Midway, the fine bubbles provided a refreshing sensation, followed by a light acidity towards the finish, which delivered a juicy, fresh lychee flavour, avoiding any overly perfumed or artificial notes. A brief hint of savouriness rounded out the sip before the bubbles cleansed the palate, leaving a clean aftertaste.

Overall, this lychee squash was a delightful beverage, capturing the fresh floral essence of the fruit with a well-balanced flavour profile. The carbonation, along with a touch of acidity and salt, made it more refreshing than Yeo’s Lychee Drink or Kirin’s Sekai no Kitchen Kara Salty Lychee, making it well worth repurchasing.

This Fujiya Taiwan Lychee Squash contained 500 mL. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
