UHA Mikakutō Mochido Strawberry

This is the UHA Mikakutō Mochido Strawberry, made with concentrated strawberry juice.

Each gummy had a musky pink hue and was shaped like a mochi doughnut, consisting of seven connected spheres forming a ring. They measured approximately 3.5 x 2.6 x 0.8 cm at the widest points.

On biting through, the outer layer had a thicker, crust-like texture, resembling a dehydrated gummy exterior, before giving way to a softer, more translucent interior. However, it lacked the typical resistance and bounce of a gummy, instead having a stretchy and chewy texture closer to a strawberry-flavoured licorice candy. The strawberry flavour was rich and juicy, closely resembling its Western counterparts but with a brighter and fresher acidity due to the use of concentrated strawberry juice.

Overall, these bite-sized, doughnut-shaped, licorice-like candies were enjoyable and a worthy comparison to similar Western confections.

This UHA Mikakutō Mochido Strawberry contained 40 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
