This is the Yumberry Boom ($9.90, regular ice, regular sweetness) from HEYTEA. Yumberry is a sub-tropical fruit also known as a Chinese bayberry, waxberry, or Chinese strawberry.
This beverage featured a vibrant pink-red hue, with layers of yumberry juice at the base, followed by yumberry purée, and topped with a yumberry slushie. The juice delivered an immediate burst of sweet-tart flavour, reminiscent of raspberry with the musky depth of blackberry. The generous addition of yumberry purée intensified this profile, contributing a fibrous texture akin to macerated pomegranate, with astringency that lingered on the palate. However, the chunky and fibrous nature of the purée made it difficult to drink through a standard bubble tea straw.
The intensity of the yumberry flavour largely overshadowed the jasmine tea, leaving only subtle toasted green tea notes in the finish. While refreshing, the pronounced astringency and dominant fruit profile made this a beverage unlikely to be repurchased.
