This is the Kamcha Hong Kong Yuan Yang, made with roasted coffee powder and Ceylon black tea.
The beverage had an opaque, very dark tan hue and presented a mellow black milk tea aroma, with minimal indication of coffee. On tasting, it delivered a smooth mouthfeel and a prominent milk tea profile, closely resembling the regular Hong Kong Milk Tea from the same range. A pleasant, slightly bitter note emerged toward the end of each sip, likely from the coffee, though the coffee component remained faint overall—lacking presence both in aroma and flavour. The drink primarily tasted like a strong milk tea, with a slightly more pronounced astringency and a subtle grittiness in the finish, likely due to undissolved particles from the base paste. Despite vigorous shaking, a layer of paste remained at the bottom of the bottle. While drinkable, this Yuan Yang was ultimately underwhelming.
