This is the Signature Mango Sago from Milk Flower ($11.80, no ice, fixed sweetness), which contained cubes of fresh mango, sago and red pomelo in a coconut milk base. It is essentially the popular Hong Kong mango pomelo sago dessert in drinkable form.
Consumed chilled, the drink was a wonderland of flavours and textures: the fresh mango adds bright sweetness, while the red pomelo adds just a hint of citrus acidity to counter and the sago and mango jelly bring bouncy chewiness to the party. The coconut milk base is dominated by the mango, yet makes its presence known by giving the drink a creamy, smooth mouthfeel. All the toppings of the drink are a similar size, which meant every sip captured the flavours of each element. The drink was an elegant execution of a much-loved Hong Kong dessert. That said, we found a large size best shared, as it was a meal unto itself and so reflected in the price.
