This is the Pineapple Green Tea ($6.80, large, no ice, 50% sweetness) from Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea. The drink was a translucent light amber colour with a puochong tea base and topped with pineapple chunks (included) and pearls (+$0.50). Consumed chilled, the rich floral, melon notes of the puochong came through bold before the pineapple emerged in the body with a mellow sweetness. A minor astringency finishes the sip.
The pineapple takes back seat to puochong, with the brightest notes of the fruit coming from the sweet and crunchy chunks of fruit that have the syrupy taste of canned pineapple and lack the natural acidity of the fresh fruit. The pearls are tender but lack any flavour of its own. Overall, this is a decent tea with a natural pineapple twist not seen elsewhere, but it’s not something to reorder.
This Pineapple Green Tea was purchased from Yifang Taiwan Fruit Tea in Sydney, Australia in 2020.
