Gloria Jean’s Coffees Irish Nut Creme

Starbucks has always given off the impression as being one of the most expensive coffee chains around. While that much is true, I was truly surprised that their prices were reasonable in comparison to this Gloria Jean’s Coffees Irish Nut Creme (small, $6.00), described as ‘a magical mix of Irish Creme and Hazelnut Italian style syrups, white chocolate, espresso and milk all beneath a mound of whipped cream and green sprinkles’.

The coffee has a sweet aroma with a subtle nuttiness. Sweet vanilla notes came through at the head of each sip and develop with a rich cream flavour in the body that recalled an Irish creme, followed by hazelnut notes emerging in the finish. Overall, the coffee was velvety smooth and rich if a tad too sweet. The store at Railway Square near Central Station did not offer and I did receive the ‘mound of whipped cream and green sprinkles’, which would’ve added an extra level of richness. I may not have wanted it, but I do appreciate being asked at Starbucks as to whether I want all the trimmings included in the price.

Irish Nut Creme was purchased at Gloria Jean’s Coffees in Sydney, Australia in October 2018.
