This is the Signature Yuzu Nitro Cold Brew ($12.00) from Stitch Coffee. It was shaken and served in a chilled glass topped with a slice of dehydrated orange.
Upon tasting, the vibrant floral and citrus notes of the yuzu were immediately evident at the forefront of each sip. These notes carried minimal acidity, and any acidity present was beautifully masked by the yuzu’s natural tartness. The nitro infusion, coupled with the sweetness from the yuzu jam, smoothed out any lingering bitterness, resulting in an incredibly smooth and slightly velvety mouthfeel. The slice of orange, while not contributing much flavour and being too hard to bite through, also effectively filtered out sediment and contributed to an overall smooth drinking experience. The taste, uniform and small size of the yuzu peel pieces remaining at the base of the glass suggested the use of Okabayashi Tosa Yuzu Jam. In summary, this cold brew offered a unique experience, although it was slightly less impressive that the yuzu was added as a jam post-brewing rather than as an integral part of the brewing process.
