This is the Black Tea with Rose ($8.00 per pot with refill) from Tea Journal that we ordered to pair with the similarly flavoured chiffon cake.
The tea is a looseleaf black tea with a clear red-brown colour and sweet, floral aroma. Consumed hot, a pleasant natural black tea sweetness came through in the head before mellow hints of rose emerged in the body with a background flavour that’s reminiscent Chinese medicine persisting through each sip and becoming more pronounced in the finish without any hint of bitterness or astringency. The background flavour of Chinese medicine interferes with the bright and pleasant palate cleansing qualities found in other rose flavoured black teas, unfortunately, and we prefer the more balanced flavour of the one by Tao of Tea.
This Black Tea with Rose was purchased at Tea Journal located at Chatswood Interchange, 44/436 Victoria Ave, Sydney NSW 2067 in July 2017.
