This is the Suntory Gokuri Autumn Grape. An annual seasonal release, this version from 2023 contained 10% juice from red and white grapes.
The beverage was an opaque purple-red hue, and accompanied by a rich grape aroma. Upon consuming after chilling and shaking to evenly distribute the grapefruit fibre, the sweet muskiness of red grapes took the forefront with each sip, developing in depth into the body where the gentle acidity of white grapes emerged. Throughout, the presence of grapefruit fibre contributed to a thicker mouthfeel without the usual bitterness associated with the juice of the fruit. Instead, as the liquid receded, it left a subtle sourness that amplified the flavour of the white grapes, accompanied by a hint of astringency akin to the tannins found in red grapes. Overall, it offered an elegant and refreshing fusion of red and white grape flavours.
This Suntory Gokuri Autumn Grape contained 400 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Hong Kong in 2023.
