This is the Kirin Gogo no Kōcha Fruits Tea Grape. It contained 0.3% juice sourced from kyohō grapes cultivated in Nagano Prefecture and was crafted using black tea, with 15% of the blend comprising Nuwara Eliya tea leaves from Sri Lanka, renowned as the ‘champagne’ of teas.
The beverage had a translucent golden yellow hue, emitting a bright aroma of kyohō grapes. When enjoyed chilled, the initial sip revealed the aromatic notes of kyohō grapes, offering a crisp, lively sweetness with a subtle tartness, softer than anticipated from the aroma. As the sip progressed, the black tea took center stage, delivering a rich, caramelized molasses-like quality, free from bitterness but leaving behind a delicate lingering astringency in the finish.
The overall flavour profile hinted at caramelized red grapes, mirroring the high sugar content and gentle acidity of fresh kyohō grapes. The tea was a refreshing and elegant fusion of the light, exquisite taste of Nuwara Eliya Ceylon tea with the sweet, rich flavour of kyohō grapes, making it a worthwhile repurchase.
