Lupicia Apple Barley Tea

Nothing would make me happier than replacing all the days of summer with those from late autumn, which is finally upon us. This Lupicia Apple Barley Tea goes a long way to getting through summer, though.

The tisane comes in a tea bag of barley scented with apple. One tea bag is recommended to make 500 mL either as a cold infusion for 1-2 hours or hot infusion for 2-3 minutes.

Infusing one 5 g tea bag in 500 mL of cold water in the fridge for 1.5 hours, the infusion was a clear golden brown colour with a strong aroma of crisp apple peel. Served chilled, these crisp apple notes came through briefly at the head of each sip before the nutty, slightly bitter coffee-like notes of the barley tea dominated the body until the apple notes returns for a mellow sweet finish and leaves a refreshing aftertaste with a gentle nuttiness.

This Lupicia Apple Barley Tea contained 10 tea bags. The tea was sourced from Japan, packaged in Japan, and purchased in Kanazawa, Japan in 2015.
