Lupicia Lanikai

This is the Lupicia Lanikai, part of a series of five teas available exclusively from Lupicia’s Hawaii store.

The tea was a loose-leaf blend of black tea infused with peach, orange, and mango, mixed with pieces of dried pineapple and blue flower petals.

Steeping 3 g of loose leaf in 200 mL of water at 85ºC for 2.5 minutes produced a deep red-brown beverage with a sweet, slightly nutty stone fruit aroma reminiscent of annin tofu. When consumed hot, the soft, stone fruit notes of peach were prominent at the start, accompanied by a gentle tropical sweetness from the mango and pineapple. Mid-sip, the black tea took over, introducing a lingering bitterness and moderate astringency, while the nutty undertones, reminiscent of annin tofu, subtly remained. Adding milk balanced the black tea’s bitterness, enhancing the overall sweetness and fruitiness, though the annin tofu notes persisted.

This Lupicia Lanikai contained 50 g. The tea was sourced from India and Kenya, packaged in Japan and received as a gift from family visiting the United States in 2024.
