Taking a short break from our preferred looseleaf teas to get through some of our more budget-friendly tea bags, we tried this Lipton Green Tea with Mandarin Orange.

The tea is a teabag of green tea blended with mandarin and orange peels and flavour.

Steeping 1 tea bag in 200 mL of water at 80°C for 1.5 minutes, the infusion was a cloudy straw colour with a bright citrus aroma of sweet mandarin. Served hot, the same zesty and sweet citrus notes of mandarin came through before a notable bitterness emerged with the green tea in the body to remind of bitter mandarin peel into the finish with a lingering mouth-puckering astringency in the aftertaste.
Overall, the bright mandarin notes are enjoyable but overshadowed by the prominent bitterness in the green tea despite steeping at 10°C and 30 seconds less than the recommended temperature and time.

This Lipton Green Tea with Mandarin Orange contained 36 g or 20 tea bags. It was produced in Poland and received as a sample in Sydney, Australia in 2015
