Doritos seem to have no qualms about producing chips in unnatural colours to celebrate the release of new movies. They came out with blue coloured, Super Nova flavour (lime and black pepper) for the release of Guardians of the Galaxy in 2017, and this year, they’ve returned to celebrate the release of the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom with these bright red coloured Doritos Corn Chips Colossal Chargrilled Steak.
We didn’t try the Super Nova corn chips, but these red ones are easily the most unappetizing chips we’ve seen. They’re ‘lava-coloured’, that is bright red and dusted in a brown coloured seasoning. If it weren’t that D loves steak, we’d probably have passed this by. Appearances aside, these corn ships smell like savoury corn chips, but deliver on taste: the flavour of corn is prominent before giving way to smoky, charred notes that swiftly developed to strong meaty flavours that recall steak seasoning. Overall, these corn chips tasty decent, even though it requires some effort in ignoring their unappetizing appearance.
