Taking a break from our usual pizza on a board game evening, we tried Yume Sushi further down the road.

Takoyaki ($6.80) seems to be a favourite of late with our friends. This one is decent, although it’s missing the aonori despite the generous bonito flakes.

This Nasu ($9.90) has a good char-grilled miso flavour. It’s a 2 cm slice (rather than half of an eggplant) so the small portion is disappointing for the price.

These three photos make up the Special Bento Chicken ($27.90). There are nigiri and sashimi, tempura vegetables, tofu, salad, teriyaki chicken and rice along with miso soup. The impressive variety and quantity of food were a crowd pleaser, along with the teriyaki salmon version.

As for me, this Chirashi Don ($17.90) has salmon, kingfish, tuna, prawn, tamagoyaki and fried bean curd on a bed of half salad, half rice. It doesn’t beat the variety and price of the one at Kura in Haymarket but it did satisfy my cravings for fresh sashimi closer to home.
Yume Sushi is located at 203 Concord Road, North Strathfield NSW 2137.
