Shrimp Tom Yum is Mama’s most popular flavour and after enjoying it so much ourselves, we wanted to see how the other flavours stacked up. This here is Mama Pork Flavour.
Each pack contained a fried noodle cake as well as powder soup and chilli powder in the orange sachet and a soup paste in the yellow sachet. It contained pork powder and spices in the form of shallot, garlic and pepper. These noodles are prepared by covering the noodles and condiments in a bowl with 400 mL of boiling water for 3 minutes.
Stirring after 3 minutes, the noodles have a savoury pork aroma that came through as the dominant flavour on tasting. That said, the pork flavour was unremarkable, lacking the comparative depth that is found in tonkotsu flavoured ramen from Nissin as well as the mouth tingling brightness of sweet, sour, and savoury that made the Shrimp Tom Yum so moreish. Flavour aside, the noodles have the same enjoyable bite but does not any of the pork flavour from the broth. This one’s a miss for us.
