This Glico Pretz Shrimp Soup takes on the flavour of ebi no umani, a Japanese style broth that’s prepared by simmering shrimp, with heads still on, in dashi, soy sauce, sake and mirin. This strongly seasoned broth with its bright colour is popular as part of osechi ryori, the Japanese New Year feast.

Each box contained two orange bags.

Each box contained two bags each containing ~21 biscuit sticks. Each biscuit stick is made with short-grain rice that’s flavoured with shrimp soup to give it a beautiful pink hue.
These Pretz have a fragrant shrimp aroma just from opening the packaging that carried through to tasting, where the short grain rice delivered a more prominent crispness than in regular Pretz. Indeed, the overall flavour was moreish and recalled very crispy ebi senbei, or rice crackers made by mixing finely minced shrimp into the senbei dough before baking. We’re fans of the rich shrimp flavour and crisp texture.
