The other flavour to complement the limited edition pairs with Smith’s Heinz Tomato Ketchup is these Smith’s Bega Farmer’s Tasty Cheese. As the name suggests, they’re flavoured using Farmer’s Tasty Cheese by Bega and I was eager to try after craving strongly flavoured foods during a lingering cold.
The cheese flavour in these chips is surprisingly mild. It’s nothing like the overwhelming cheese flavours of Cheezels or Twisties. It’s definitely there though, as a savoury, mellow cheese flavour, without the tanginess you expect from a cheddar. As a result of the milder flavour, the cheese notes came through strongly on the first bite but by the third or fourth chip, your palate became accustomed to the flavour and you’re left being able to taste the savoury potato flavour of the chip and wanting more cheese.
