This is the Smith’s Potato Chips Duos Beef Burger and Special Sauce. Their Duos range combines two different flavoured chips together in a single bag. Each flavour can be enjoyed on its own or eaten together.
The yellow chips are dusted in a slightly brown speckled seasoning and taste just like ‘special sauce’, that is to say, mayonnaise, tomato sauce and sweet pickles. They have a prominent acidity and sharpness, much like the special sauce inside a Big Mac. In contrast, the darker brown chips have a meatier and rounder umami that really captured the smoky grilled flavour of a beef patty inside a burger. Eaten together, the flavour combination does indeed suggest a McDonald’s Big Mac with the smokier grilled meat patties from Hungry Jacks.
