This Breadtop Mini Moon Cake Red Bean with Yolk Paste is the last of the mooncakes we ate for Mid-Autumn Festival in 2018.

Each box comes with a sealed pair of mini mooncakes.

The Breadtop logo featured atop each mooncake.

Each mooncake is around 5 cm in diameter and 3 cm in height with a red bean and yolk paste filling

Warmed up in a microwave at 600W for 10 seconds, the mooncake has the typical egg pastry smell of baked mooncakes. Served warm, the crust has a fine crumb that bites through easily to the red bean filling, which is sweet and smooth and balanced well by the pops of rich saltiness from the duck yolk paste. That said, the red bean lacked the rich nuttiness we’d expect of quality red bean and carries a hint of sharpness that recalled Chinese almonds despite not appearing on the ingredients list. Overall, the mooncake is incredibly rich as a result of the dense red bean paste and the rich duck yolk.
This Breadtop Mini Moon Cake Red Bean with Yolk Paste contained 140 g or 2 pieces. It was produced in Australia and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2018.
