This is the Nippon Yell Rusk-style Baumkuchen Fukuoka Amaou Strawberry.

It featured bite-sized, rusk-style Baumkuchen soaked in white chocolate flavoured with 1.1% fresh juice from Amaou strawberries. Amaou is a premium strawberry variety grown exclusively in Fukuoka Prefecture, known for being “red, round, large, and delicious”.

Each bag contained five pieces, each measuring 2.7 cm in depth, with a 2 cm outer rim and a height of 1.5 cm. The pieces had a pink-orange hue and a smooth surface, emitting a sweet strawberry aroma.

On tasting, the texture was firm and crunchy, with the chocolate melting easily on the palate, immediately releasing a bright strawberry flavour that stood out against the sweetness of the white chocolate. This fresh, sweet-tart strawberry flavour lingered in the aftertaste, enhancing its fragrant and tangy profile. The contrast between the creamy strawberry-infused white chocolate and the consistently crisp Baumkuchen rusk created a satisfying texture from start to finish. Of the three flavours in this series, the vibrancy and accessibility of the fresh strawberry flavour made it the standout and an easy favourite. A well-portioned bite-sized snack for those with a sweet tooth.
This Nippon Yell Rusk-style Baumkuchen Fukuoka Amaou Strawberry contained 29 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sydney, Australia in 2024.
