We received these Donovans After Dinner Mint Squares as a gift from family members visiting New Zealand.
The mints are described as a ‘soft mint fondant coated in 60% cocoa dark chocolate’. They consisted of 65% mint fondant and 34% dark chocolate and are 2.5 x 2.5 x 1 cm in size.
The dark chocolate coating gave a crisp crunch on biting through that contrasts sharply with the softness of the mint fondant, which swiftly melted to a smooth creamy consistency. The fondant had a bright tingly mint flavour with a manageable sweetness that started off gentle and quickly built in intensity just as the dark chocolate melted and countered with its bitterness. These were very enjoyable after-dinner mints.
This Donovans After Dinner Mint Squares contained 180 g or 11 pieces. It was produced in New Zealand and received as a gift from family visiting New Zealand in 2022.
