This is the UHA Mikakutō Nagano Candy Yamanoshizuku. It used Shine Muscat juice and purée from Nagano Prefecture, which is one of the leading areas of grape production in Japan.
Each candy was about 1.8 cm in diameter and 1.2 in height. It featured a transparent green outer layer flavoured with Shine Muscat juice and an opaque white centre flavoured with Shine Muscat purée. As the hard candy exterior dissolved on the tongue, the bright aroma of Shine Muscat immediately made its presence known. The fruit’s refined sweetness gracefully unfurled, carrying the evocative tropical nuances of melon and mango. Upon reaching the chewy, slightly textured purée core—a delightful contrast to the smooth outer layer—a more profound expression of the Shine Muscat flavour unveiled itself. This layered journey offered a nuanced interplay of sweetness and texture, creating an exquisite depth to the experience. In its entirety, this hard candy artfully captured the sun-kissed tropical flavour of Shine Muscat while masterfully balancing its inherent acidity, resulting in a truly enjoyable treat.
