This is the Kōriyama Meihan Fukushima Hakutō Gumi, made with juice from white peaches grown in Fukushima Prefecture.
The gummies were presented in an elegantly designed box, with each piece individually flow-wrapped. They had a dome shape, measuring approximately 2 cm in diameter and 1.2 cm in height, with an opaque, pale salmon-pink hue.
On tasting, the sugar crystals on the exterior provided an initial rough texture and firm outer layer before yielding easily to a jelly-like centre with minimal resistance—more akin to an agar-set jelly than a traditional gelatin gummy. The sugar crystals added a persistent crunch from start to finish. The gummy itself began with a somewhat indistinct sweetness before quickly developing into a bright peach flavour with delicate floral depth. A subtle acidity emerged towards the finish, enhancing the impression of juicy white peach.
While this gummy lacked the characteristic bouncy resistance of gelatin-based gummies, the softer texture, combined with the juiciness of the white peach flavour, made for an enjoyable variation. The visually appealing packaging further reinforced its suitability as a souvenir from Fukushima.
