This is the Morinaga Hi-Chew Premium Fuji Apple, a chewy soft candy featuring concentrated Fuji apple juice in an apple-infused powdered coating and soft taffy centre.

Each piece presented with an elongated, rounded shape measuring approximately 1.5 cm in diameter, with an opaque white hue and a light red undertone. An external coating infused with Fuji apple surrounded a soft, light red taffy interior. The coating was produced using an “aroma foundation” manufacturing method. Aroma opened with a sweet, juicy apple profile.
Initial contact delivered a cool, smooth sensation from the powdered coating alongside immediate sweetness. The apple flavour became more pronounced upon biting into the taffy centre, as the coating began dissolving and combined with the softer interior. Through the mid-palate, several chews intensified the Fuji apple profile, with rich, honeyed sweetness developing alongside a balancing juicy acidity. The contrast between the cool dissolving coating and the soft, elastic taffy created a gradual textural transition rather than an abrupt change. Towards the finish, the bright, juicy sweetness persisted alongside a fresh Fuji apple character. As with regular Hi-Chew candies, the taffy did not adhere noticeably to the teeth.
Overall, a chewy soft candy with a rising Fuji apple flavour progression and integrated textural development, moving from a cool, smooth coating into soft taffy before resolving with a bright, juicy apple finish.
