Tottori Prefecture is renowned for its cultivation of the Nijisseiki Pear. The Tottori Nijisseiki Pear Museum stands as a tribute to the history of this Asian pear variety, which also holds a place as one of the prefecture’s mascots.
Known as nashi in Japan, this pear has a medium greenish-yellow hue that harmoniously melds the sweetness, flavour, and juiciness of a Western pear with the crispness and form of an apple. The Nippon Yell Gummy Tottori Nijisseiki Pear showcases this fruit, using Nijisseiki Pear juice.
Each gummy was an opaque yellow-green shade and measured about 2 cm in diameter and 1 cm in height. An inviting, sweet pear fragrance emanated from it. Upon tasting, the delicate sugar dissolved instantly as the outer gummy offered a satisfying, resilient chewiness. However, the true delight unfolded upon reaching the tender jelly centre, where the aromatic sweetness and refreshing crunch of the pear came to life. When enjoyed in tandem, the centre’s robust flavour effortlessly carried the entire gummy experience. Even though the outer layer was only subtly pear-flavoured on its own, its essential bouncy texture was delectable. These gummies were undoubtedly enjoyable and worth repurchasing.
