The Orihiro Purunto Konnyaku Jelly Grapefruit is the single flavour in the series that boasts of having 0 kcal while retaining the same bouncy texture.
The Grapefruit Jelly came in a yellow-coloured pouch, and not only ess it the only flavour that contained 0 kcal, but it was also an anomaly for containing no fruit juice and being sweetened artificially.
The jelly was translucent and colourless with a sweet and zesty grapefruit aroma and flavour despite the absence of fruit juice. The jelly tasted like how it smelled – sweet with a subtle zestiness – with the addition of bitter undertones. The bitterness likely came from the artificial sweeteners (erythritol is first on the ingredients list) and together with the natural bitter notes in grapefruit, made it the natural flavour to pair as a 0 kcal jelly. That said, the overall grapefruit flavour was palatable but reminded us more of household cleaner than confectionery.
