Sakuratoen Furufuru La France Jelly

This is the Sakuratoen Furufuru La France Jelly, featuring La France pears grown in Yamagata Prefecture, which has the largest La France pear harvest in Japan.

Each cup contained the equivalent of a whole La France pear, peeled, cored, segmented, and preserved in jelly. The pear segments measured approximately 5–6 cm in length and 2 cm in thickness and width. Both the pear and the jelly had a yellow hue, with the jelly being translucent.

On tasting, the cup was generously filled with about ten pear segments, extending from top to bottom. The pear pieces had a firm texture with a gentle crunch—neither mushy nor overly soft—while delivering the rich, fragrant flavour and aroma characteristic of fresh La France pears. The buttery mouthfeel and floral notes were complemented by a notable but well-rounded sweetness, making the fruit immediately recognisable.

The jelly mirrored this rich pear flavour but had a smoother, melting quality on the palate, providing a pleasant contrast to the firmer bite of the pear pieces. The balance of textures made this an especially satisfying product, well worth the higher price. Compared to a cheaper brand, this version contained noticeably more fruit, making it a superior choice. A worthwhile purchase that would be repurchased.

This Sakuratoen Furufuru La France Jelly contained 240 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Yamagata, Japan in 2024.
