UHA Mikakutō Cororo Arida Mikan

This is the UHA Mikakutō Cororo Arida Mikan, made with juice from Arida mikan grown in the Arida region of Wakayama Prefecture. Known for their high sugar content, juiciness, and ease of peeling, Arida mikan are a hallmark of Japan’s premier citrus-growing region, with over 400 years of cultivation history. Wakayama remains the country’s leading producer of mikan.

Each gummy was shaped like a miniature sausage, measuring approximately 2 cm in length and 1.5 cm in diameter, with a vibrant orange hue and a soft, mellow citrus aroma. The outer “skin” offered a slight resistance on biting, before yielding with a snappy texture to the jellied interior. The contrast between the firmer skin and the soft, melty centre resembled a thick, cooked-down mikan purée—smooth, concentrated, and rich in citrus flavour.

Flavour-wise, the gummies opened with a soft, sweet mikan note, which deepened mid-bite into a fuller, more aromatic citrus expression, before finishing with a lifted acidity that brought juiciness and clarity to the palate. The overall flavour remained true to the profile of Arida mikan—sweet, vibrant, and fresh—while the distinctive Kororo texture added dimension and interest.

Overall, a juicy, aromatic mikan gummy with a satisfying dual texture, offering an authentic and well-rounded expression of Arida mikan.

This UHA Mikakutō Cororo Arida Mikan contained 40 g. It was produced in Japan and purchased in Sendai, Japan in 2024.
