When consumed chilled, it revealed an immediately intense aromatic presence, characterised by dark floral notes interwoven with a gentle, spiced nuance reminiscent of cinnamon. The tea carried a creamy, dark caramel-like richness that evoked the roasted sweetness of a well-prepared hōjicha, coating the palate smoothly and sustaining the depth of the tea’s flavour through to the finish. The aftertaste lingered with a mellow sweetness, rounded and refined. Ordered at regular sweetness, the dark syrupy quality of the base tea was accentuated, but remained balanced and never cloying.

Overall, the roasted and subtly fruity character of the tea was distinctive and assertive, complemented by a fragrant aroma and a velvety, creamy mouthfeel that made for a deeply satisfying drink. It would be worthwhile to revisit this tea at a lower sweetness.
